I am very sad that my baby just continues to grow up before my eyes. We are well out of the baby phase with the exception of diapers. But we are working on that. We are still trying to move in baby steps.
You see, a few months ago when finding out that my cousin was expecting, I immediately offered our crib to him. My original plan was to put Roxy in a toddler bed immediately after she turned two and they were not due until January, so it would be plenty of time.
Well... Roxy slept in her toddler bed for the first time this past Saturday night. I had a harder time letting go of the crib than she did. The one-week early arrival of Baby Christopher kind of put us in a hurry.
Roxy just loves her big girl bed:
So far, Roxy has enjoyed her big bed and we've only had one real problem getting her to sleep. After church on Sunday, Roxy fell asleep in the car on the way home. I put her on her bed and took off her coat, hat, shoes and tights and covered her up. I went to check on her a few minutes later to find her sitting up in bed watching for me.
We began a back and forth battle over whether she was going to take a nap or get up and play. Finally, I played the only card I had left.
Me: Roxy, you have to take a nap. There will be no Movers, no Mickey, no Barney and no Cat in the Hat until after you've taken a nap.
I tucked her in and walked into our room to turn the monitor on.
Roxy: No Mickey? No Movers? No Barney? NO BARNEY!?!?
She was clearly distressed over not watching Barney, who she was just introduced to the night before thanks to Mongo.
Shortly after the realization there would be no Barney, Roxy drifted off to a much-needed nap.
Now, we are potty training.
