The heat this weekend was even more exhausting than I expected. We had a yard sale Saturday morning and by 7:00 a.m. I was dripping and gross with sweat. By noon, I expected to pass out at any time from being overheated. (I never succumbed!)
Yesterday, we traveled to a state park for a friend of Roxy's birthday party. Again, the heat was sweltering and after only being there for about an hour, we had to leave just to be in the air-conditioned car.
On our way home, we passed through small towns that had gotten rain. As we drove through those areas, I could watch the temperature gage on my car go down. We started at 98° and then it dropped to 84° and by the time we got back to Grandmomma's house, the temp in the car read 76°.
By the time we arrived home, it was still dry as a bone and hot and humid. I was hoping for rain. We needed it. As much for the rain as for the release from the hot weather!
It started storming around 7 p.m. It thundered, lightning and poured rain well after Roxy went to bed. We looked out the back door to see what it was doing and our patio table was blowing from the middle of the deck to one side. The wind was so strong.
You can imagine the surprise on my face when I walked out this morning to drop Roxy off and come to work, only to see this:
That was one big wake-up call. Russ didn't believe me when I went in to tell him. So, anyone need some firewood?
