Project Marriage: Date Night

This month's Project Marriage challenge was date night.  Find a sitter, go out with the hubs and not talk about Princess Roxy at all.  Easy peasy, right?  Not hardly!

My mom and step-dad volunteered to watch Roxy for us because they knew how much we wanted to see Transformers 3.

I thought that not talking about Roxy would be easy.  I was wrong.  We traveled about a half hour to a movie theatre we prefer and during the ride I wanted to ask Russ a million questions about Roxy.  Did he think she was still feeling under the weather?  Should we have cake or cupcakes at her party?  What should we get her for her birthday?  Is she ready for a toddler bed?

I turned to the radio for help.  I dug out my CD case and we listened to tons of my favorite music while I asked Russ if he knew this song or that song or who sings this?

We opted to eat the greasy, expensive food in the theatre rather than wait for a table at a restaurant on a Friday night.  After we purchased our nachos, corndogs, and gallons of soda, we enjoyed Transformers 3.  Russ was afraid I might cry again, I think.  See, when we went to see Transformers 2, I was very pregnant and very emotional.  I cried when Optimus Prime died.  Of course, I cried at the end when it was all a happy ending, too.  I did tear up during 3, even though I didn't want to, but I never actually cried.  (I guess I really am a sapp when it comes to movies!)

After the movie, we opted to go through the McDonald's drive in for ice cream.  This was the only time that I talked about Roxy.  I called to check in on her.  My mom was just a little disappointed about her crashing on her early and not getting enough play time in.  After relaying that information to Russ, we headed back home.

It was a great night.  A reminder of our dating days when we would see movies A LOT.  Now, mostly I go see movies with Jenn so that one of us is home with the wee one and I can watch a chick flick with someone who is not making fun the entire time.  It was very nice to have a night out with my husband and to enjoy something that we enjoyed a lot back when...

  2. Good for you guys! When I go out with my hubs, if we don't talk about the kids, I usually end up hearing about the new faucets he wants to buy at Home Depot.

  3. Sounds like it was a great date. My husband and I love to go on dates. It's rare though since we don't have family nearby. But when they visit, we take advantage :)

  5. We enjoyed our time together watching Transformers 3 also in 3D for the challenge.
No matter what everyone chose for #projectmarriage it was worth it. Everyone should invest more in time together, even if it is in our own home watching a movie. Wishing you more date nights. :)

  6. It's hard not talking about your little one. Mine are 12 and 13 and I still find myself wanting to gush about them all the time.

Sounds like you had a wonderful date night. Movie food Gah! It requires a second morgage on your home. ;)
