On March 18th around 6:30 p.m., Roxy, Grandmomma and I were headed southbound in a car loaded to the hilt with bags and suitcases and toys and snacks. After a nice filling dinner, Roxy drifted off to dream happy thoughts as Grandmomma and I faced the long and tiring 10.5 hour drive ahead of us.
I have to say that Roxy travels really well. Especially at night when she is able to sleep through most of the car ride. We stopped three times on the way down to gas up and take a break to walk around. We made it to Pap and NayeNaye's camper at 5:30 a.m. Roxy made sure to let us all know as we were trying to catch up that she was ready for a nap. Its one of her new favorite words, particularly if she's near a couch with a throw pillow. She'll plop down face first into the pillow with her little body stretched out and her arms down to her sides and close her eyes. I had never seen her do it before so I was just as shocked to see it as Grandmomma, Pap, and NayeNaye.
Roxy and I took a short nap, watched UK progress in the big dance, and then it was on to explore the park and see the water.
Roxy wasn't afraid of the water at all when we went to the bayou for the first time. She walked in the sand and the shallow water. She splashed a little. It was a big time for her. Lots of giggles and laughing as we played in the water!
After going out for dinner, we returned to camp for Roxy's first campfire. She enjoyed cuddling with us around the fire and seeing the moon and the stars. It was a great day!
