Our First Family Vacation

On Friday, August 27th, Mommy, Daddy & Roxy hit the road for our first family vacation.  We were headed to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, to visit with Poppa & Nana, who Roxy was meeting for the very first time.

Roxy was a great traveler.  We did stop at McDonald's to grab a quick bite before hitting the road again.  It was Roxy's first time at McD's and all she got to eat were rice puffs and juice.  Lucky for us, she thought that was great.  She slept most of the way and was only fussy for a few minutes.  She was so excited to finally arrive at 11:30 p.m., that it was nearly 2:00 a.m. before she settled back down to sleep.

Saturday was Roxy's birthday in Gatlinburg.  She wore her cupcake dress and we went shopping for her birthday.  She got all kinds of new clothes, shoes, and even a hat for this winter.

Roxy loved spending time with Nana & Poppa.  She'd sit still and visit and then she'd be off to show them how well she can crawl and climb.

She wasn't too sure about her birthday cake.  It wasn't as good as those yummy vegetables and meat she'd had for dinner! She loves to wear the icing though.  By the time Mommy put her to bed, she'd finally realized she could suck the icing off her fingers and she smelled like one giant Oreo!

She loved looking out the glass patio doors at the condo.  Especially if Mommy or Daddy were outside.

I think Roxy's favorite part of vacation was playing in the pool with Daddy.  The water was warm and she enjoyed it very much.

Before we knew it, it was time to head back home.  We were sad to go, but were excited to be back in our beds.  Before we left, we had breakfast with Nana & Poppa one more time and then headed back to our house.

Roxy was excited to be back on the road headed north.  She traveled just as well on the way home as she did on the trip down.  She really liked it because Mommy was able to play peek-a-boo with her.

We're looking forward to seeing Nana & Poppa soon - hopefully around Thanksgiving.
