A Day of Good News

I took Roxy for the ultrasound on her little head yesterday afternoon. I was a little upset about it, but tried to stay positive. Upset more because I didn't know about the brain bleed until six months after the fact and then we had to have a test so they could "document" their file. Positive because we could see no real reason for concern with Roxy's development.

Anywho, on to the appointment.

We arrived at CBH only to find out that - heaven forbid - the wrong doctor signed the orders for the ultrasound. We waited a 1/2 hour for the right doctor to sign the orders so we could get the test finished.

Patiently waiting...

In the radiology room, Roxy was a trooper. The tech had me hold her and sit in a chair. She didn't mind all the nasty gel in her hair or the constant twitch of the wand. She was only concerned with getting her fingers in her mouth and whether or not she could maneuver my finger into her mouth. (Which she did when I wasn't paying attention!)

I was completely prepared to wait until Monday for the results as this is what the Grad Clinic had told me to expect. Wrong! The tech told us to stay put for a few minutes and the doctor would be down to go over the results with us. Sure enough, about 5 minutes later, the doctor came in looked at the results and gave us nothing but good news.

Roxy got an A++ for the day. The doctor said that if she had a Grade I brain bleed, you couldn't tell it now. The white matter they were looking for (scar tissue caused by the bleed) was very minimal, if any. All in all, we are the parents of a very healthy, happy 29-weeker!

So, so very happy! I can't wait to speak with the Grad Clinic on Monday to see what kind of "glass half-empty" sad news they decide to give us next. Ugh!
