Roxy had to go yesterday morning for an ultrasound of her spine right above her little butt where she has a birth mark. The pediatrician said that in rare cases this could signal neurological problems and wanted to get the ultrasound to make sure this wasn't the case with our little miracle baby.
Roxy was truly a trooper throughout the process. We had one ultrasound technician showing another new technician how to go about the process of seeing what the doctor had ordered so the whole appointment took quite a bit longer than it should have.
They put Roxy on a fresh warm blanket and put another one over her leaving only a small portion of her back exposed. She laid there and was quiet and content for most of it. It wasn't until the gel on her back got a little cool that she started getting cranky.
I have to say it was an experience to get to see her little spine show up on the screen. The ultrasound wand was almost as big as she was so you could see quite a bit of her spine on the screen all at the same time. I think it would have been even more amazing to see the ultrasounds of her head and brain that she had at the Children's Hospital.
We are slowing settling into a loose routine at home. Roxy's arrival home quickly taught us that she now controls what happens and when it happens. I don't think either of us are complaining though because its wonderful to finally have her at home with us.
There is a noticeable change in her appearance. You can tell that she is slowing picking up weight. She's starting to have the beginnings of a double chin and her little knees and elbows are getting chunky. She's outgrowing her preemie clothes - more in length than around her little waist. Her facial features are also becoming more defined. She is more and more beautiful with each passing day :)
